STAR Story: His Own Hard Life Motivates this Mentor

Craig Woffard grew up on the tough streets of Hartford. He served in Vietnam. His wife died at a young age so Craig raised their two girls on his own. Both became college graduates. Craig joined up with STAR in 2002 and has actively mentored boys ever since.

"I witnessed a man being killed in Hartford and I realized there had to be something I could do to help stop this violence from happening... The kids are my fuel. They keep me going. I just love what I do."

Referral Form

All STAR children enter the program as referrals from the Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF), Connecticut Department of Corrections or any other Social Service Agency.
