Any child with emotional or behavioral issues can overcome their challenges and succeed at home, at school, and in their community.
The STAR children of STAR Services, LLC are proof.
STAR Services is a non-traditional, grass roots mentoring program for children ages 8 to 17 who have emotional and behavioral issues. Mentors spend an average of 10 hours a week with each STAR child and are available to them at any time, night or day. The mentors spend time in every aspect of the child's life home, school, neighborhood and elsewhere. The program leads to social, emotional, and academic growth.
Established in 2002, by Founder and CEO Fay Evans. STAR currently serves over 100 children with over 25 mentors.
All STAR children enter the program as referrals from the Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF) and Catholic Charities. The initial term of service ranges from 3 months to 1 year.
